Hawiye Clan Council of Elders pledge their support to candidate Abdirahman Abdishakur

An Iftar (fast breaking) and dinner ceremony attended by Hawiye Clan Council of Elders was on Sunday night held at campaign headquarter of 2012 Somalia Presidential aspirant Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame.

The chairman of Hawiye Clan Council of Elders, Mohamed Hassan Had who spoke at the ceremony related his personal knowledge for the candidate saying that Mr Abdirahman is an educated, able and experienced person who is among the few candidates most likely to win the 2012 race to the Somalia's top leadership.

Other council members who spoke at the ceremony included elders such as Hassan Ilmi Yahye, Muhuyadin Hassan Afrah, Hashi Mohamad Kulane, Hoshow among others and they all pledged their support for the candidate stressing that he deserves to lead the country since he played a remarkable role in the 2009 Djibouti peace process that led to the birth of the current interim government. They also praised the candidate's role in the regions inhabited by Hawiye clans.

Candidate Abdirahman Abdishakur who addressed the elders spoke in length about his political program for the country. He said that the Hawiye Clan Council of Elders came to existence at a critical time and has achieved great things since then. The candidate urged the elders to hold high the reputation gained by the council and work tirelessly for the good of the Somali people and nation.

The meeting is part of a series of gatherings that the candidate is having with different sections of the society and which are aimed at publicising his political agenda and marshalling support.
